LCD is abbreviated for Liquid Crystal Display.

In the year 2006 Panasonic began to go from the CRT (cathode ray tube) to the newer LCD (liquid crystal display). The LCD is a thinner unit and quite popular with those trying to outdo their family and friends, it seems we need everything smaller and lighter.

The main difference between the CRT and the LCD is that the CRT is much bigger and thicker because of the cathode ray tubes, while the LCD is lighter and thinner and can reach beyond the 40 inch diagonal measurements. The CRT’s cannot breach the 40 inch diagonal measurement.

This type of television is limited to the size of 40 inches due to the size of the tubes and their size, that are needed to produce these televisions. Considering the size of the tubes needed the larger size screens the larger size televisions are totally unrealistic.
